Tips for earning gold in World Of Warcraft

by JaeR

I have over 216,000 gold. You can too. This is how...

I thought I would make a post on how to make and earn money/gold in WoW. Now, granted, this is my method. I'm sure there are hundreds of other ways to make lots of gold in WoW. I'm just offering up what I do and what I've come to realize from my experiences and observations (and apparently it works).

I'm not one of those "make money fast" sorta guys. I don't play the Auction House Game. I don't craft really expensive items and sell them to players. I don't spend hours farming Primals and Eternals. I don't farm rare items to sell in trade. And I don't buy gold. My basic philosophy is this: become "self-sustaining". In other words, make money by saving money.

As far as I am concerned, there are 4 very important skills/professions to have that are (and yield) a constant turn-around and daily expenditure.

These skills/professions are:
1. Fishing (Buff Food)
2. Enchanting (Enchants)
3. Jewelcrafting (Gems)
4. Herbalism (Pots/Flasks)

In my opinion, these are the ONLY things you are constantly buying and re-buying over and over again in World of Warcraft. That adds up to hundreds and thousands of gold wasted over a period of time. So why not get rid of your spending and wasting gold on these constantly replaced/consumed items?

With these 4 skills alone, you will be able to make and create everything needed/consumed for yourself (without spending LOADS of gold on a daily basis). You don't need Alchemy for pots/flasks. Gather the herbs and have someone make them for you (I'm absolutely positive you know someone who can make pots/flasks). The same goes for cooking (although they have added some benefits to cooks - namely the Northern Spices which can only be attained by cooks to make better quality food). Take that as you will...

Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, Tailoring have all become obsolete now. Any benefits they had were taken away in WotLK. Items that those professions make are now all BoE. I will say, that Mining is still a good skill to have. Not only will it help your Jewelcrafting, but your prospecting as well. So you could technically "add" that to the list of 4. Inscriptions, in my opinion, is another wasted profession. I have yet to rarely replace my inscriptions.

Getting back to the point. Needless to say, I am pretty rich because of this. I can afford anything I want in WoW - be it for pleasure or necessity. I have cut out almost every expense in the game. The only thing I really have to pay for is
