We all have those days, when life slaps us in the face, or when life refuses to even acknowledge the expression on our face. Sometimes we wish to get lost in the crowd; other times we are screaming for the crowd to take notice. We know the saying, "When life hands you lemons- make lemonade", but sometimes the quest for the sweet and savory isn't that simplistic.
So what do we do when our cup isn't running over, or when life isn't sweet? We must dig deep ( sandcastle contest deep), and find the root of our happiness. Sometimes life takes you for a few fierce rounds, but don't allow it to knock you out. We can go down for the count, but we learn more in picking up our aching bones and reinvigorating our sore muscles and minds.
If the rat race has got you on that hamster wheel; jump off ! Grab your cheese and run! Sometimes the simplest solution to blackberry's and bothersome bosses is a day off. Perhaps that means sleeping till noon or pizza in bed. Disconnect the phones; give yourself permission to breathe. Exhale, take a walk, stroll through a bookstore; whatever floats your boat-as long as you allow your boat to float.
Find the people who complete you and reconnect. Whether that be your Dad, your friend; reach out and touch the people that touch you. Simple words of encouragement can refresh your soul and invigorate your confidence. There is no better feeling than surrounding yourself with the people who love you. There love is unequivocal.
Clear your head of toxins, as well as your body. Cleanse your body with whole foods, less caffeine, and attempt to make some lifestyle changes. Those changes could be as simple as committing to a restful bedtime. What better time to rest the soul, than with slumber ? If you can dedicate yourself to other lifestyle changes then go full speed ahead; plunge into the pool of possibilities.
Exercise your body into a peaceful mode. Don't attempt to achieve like an Olympic athlete; rather try to channel into something less stressful, such as yoga .The last way to pick yourself up is not by knocking yourself over with pain. Know your limits, respect your body and listen to those muscles whispering to you.
Learn something new, even if you feel like an old dog. Your teachers were correct, you still have plenty of time to learn a new trick. Read a book, learn something you never knew, and then be courageous enough to attempt what you learned.
Sometimes those we long for are caught
