Poetry: Freedom

I'm Taking It

Oh, the unforgotten moonlit dance

to the Victrola's cracked melody.

His come and get me grin.

The times I went and got him.

And that moment I cried, "Yes!"

to the man who wouldn't control me.

The shirt that smells

like an 18 hour work day.

That last kiss on my wrinkled forehead.

The tear that fell from his face

onto this cold white satin.

It's mine forever

and always.
