If you are a postage stamp collector, but you don't get a lot of post from your country or overseas and are fretting over where to get postage stamps to add to your collection, the most convenient source is of course eBay, which I consider one of the most convenient places to get anything in this time and age.
If you search "stamp" in eBay under the category "stamps" (of course!), you can bid on stamps from a starting price of US$0.01, and the most expensive stamp (as of this writing) was a US$149,000 "well-organised, world library" of postage stamps and first day covers that you have to arrange an appointment for viewing the collection and transport for bringing the collection back home. You can buy postage stamps, airmail stamps, commemorative stamps, first day covers, etc. etc. The point is, on eBay there are tens of thousands of different postage stamps beyond your imagination, you can buy any type of stamp you want, and the price can range from a couple of cents (if you are lucky enough to win the auction, because the minimum price on eBay to buy the item right away is US$1) to tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for a stamp or even an entire collection. If you want to start a stamp collection, I would suggest that you go to eBay and hunt around for stamps you like. There is a great chance that you can get good and cheap deals for the stamps, because eBay is filled with a multitude of sellers, and therefore an even bigger multitude of things for sale, and prices have to be competitive, and therefore you can get plenty of cheap and good things on eBay, including stamps.
If you don't want to use eBay, or simply don't trust online shopping, there are other methods to get stamps. In my native Singapore, there is a Philatelic Museum which sells stamps, both stamps that are in use and commemorative stamps, and also the post office, where normal, postage stamps can be obtained. You can always visit your local post office to obtain stamps for your collection.
There are also many neighborhood stamp shops, where you can also buy stamps from other collectors. If you are really very interested in stamp collecting, you can join stamp collecting organisations, such as the American Philatelic Society in the United States, and therefore meet collectors at regional exhibitions and stamp shows. If you join these societies, you will definitely be able to find out where to buy postage stamps.
So in all, you can get stamps from eBay, your local post office, or any neighbourhood stamp shop. Happy collecting!
