"The death of the mind is the birth of wisdom."
Quoted from Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj's well known book, "I AM THAT"
Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, (1897 to 1981) was a realised Indian spiritual teacher who to my mind only ever spoke the very greatest of wisdom. Maybe he was speaking from his realised soul, and from his contact with the greater wisdom pool of God and which contains all knowledge and truth within it, or maybe he was simply speaking from his heart of love.
Love and living from love is not so much obtaining wisdom, but it is accessing our own inner wisdom.
The wisdom of the heart is in seeing what is invisible to our mind. Wisdom grows in us as much as we are loving. Love opens us to our own wisdom, and then continuing to love waters our wisdom with love and eventually it blooms inside of us. It is not so much our wisdom that affects our spiritual life as much as it is our spiritual life that grows our wisdom.
Spiritual life is primarily about love and loving. When we love and are loving this increases our own wisdom pool of experience. Wisdom is how we apply love within our own experiences of love. Spiritual life brings unconscious love into our awareness, and then it moves into our consciousness. Experiencing different aspects of love is only obtainable by living separately as our own individualised part of God.
We need this separation in order to love, and we acquire wisdom to be able to reconnect back to others with this same love. This wisdom is gained from our experiences all obtained from living within love while still remaining connected to God's love.
Wisdom is seeing love within everything while discerning at the same time that which is not so loving in our actions towards all others. Wisdom is being able to see the difference between loving and not loving behaviours. Wisdom is living from God's love and in being your true self.
The death of your mind and of your ego is the birth of a new wisdom in you. This means that you are now accepting your true self. Self knowledge is the only true wisdom. Love is the way of application.
Real love must be immersed within wisdom. Wisdom is you being the real you. When you are being the real you, you are following your own wisdom and truth. Nobody else's wisdom and truth will ever do this for you. These are false wisdoms and false truths for you. As long as you live as yourself from your own truth, your own wisdom emerges from within you, and this is always sufficient for you to be you as perfectly
