Poetry: My back porch

by Barbara A. Black

My back porch

Really isn't a porch at all

Although it used to be one.

It's a storage shed for me

And a junk room/freezer space,

Which one day will be gone.

The new back porch

Still waiting its time

Will circle around the house.

The old wood stove

Will stand out there:

The one Maw left to my spouse.

It may be sooner

It may be later

But the porch will someday be done;

And when it is finished

And everythng in place,

All 'round the house it will run!
