Walking up my neighborhood block
I see 4 black guys hanging on a spot
I slow my stroll and start to think
should I turn around and avoid this gang
What if they try to sell me crack
I could get robbed. they call it jacked
On the news I heard of that
I think I will turn and go around
What are these thugs doing in my town
I bet there smoking those marijauna Blunts
Talking about the women they got
One of them calls out
Yo dawg come here
I got somthin to say
I stop and think
what should I do
What if they have a nife or a gun
Before I could turn aruond and run
One man is standing next to me
"Whats up Im Jon
and these are my boys
Tee and Paul
We just moved in the neighborhood
We like it alot
I felt a little tight and kept my guard up
in case of a fight
Tee asked my name
I said I'm Mike
He said whats up
I nodded my head
And he said
Is Jesus Christ Your Savior
We worship Twice a week
Your welcome to join us
Come by and see
I was confused a bit
and said sure
They all said Cya
come anytime and chill
I walked away ashamed of myself
I judged these men before we even spoke
Discriminated against some good folk
How little I know
I'm the big joke

Poetry: How little I know
by Robin Loving
If I were to show you
How little I know
This page would be so white
Your glasses would glow.
If I were to tell you
How
Walking up my neighborhood block
I see 4 black guys hanging on a spot
I slow my stroll and start to think
should I turn
My knowing is not always showing in me.
My ignorance competes not to complete.
How little I know, you would soon agree,
is
How little I know
It often surprises me,
And disturbs my ego,
When I am forced to acknowledge,
How little I know.
My accumulated

How little I know
Just when my
Eyes travel
The Internet
Even that
Never claims
To know it all
Otherwise
Space travel
