BACKGROUND ON METHOD LEATHER LOVE

Method Leather Love wipes are made from 100% bamboo. The wrapper states the wipes are both "people and panda-friendly." (1) 30 wipes come in packaging similar to baby wipes. It has a plastic closure in the center that clicks closed to seal out air. Interestingly enough, the packaging uses dramatically less material than conventional wipe containers. The bamboo used is from a renewable resource and can be composted. (2)

The cleansers in Leather Love are "naturally-derived and non-toxic." While cleaning, a person doesn't even have to wear rubber gloves. (3) The wipes are just that gentle to the skin!

Once the top pops open, the user realizes: this leather cleaner does not smell like typical cleaners, especially non-green ones. It smells rich and sweet, just like almonds.

These wipes can be used on shoes like: sneakers, sandals, pumps, etc. They can be used on many other leather items like: couches and chairs; bags and purses; coats and jackets; car seats.

THE REVIEW

I bought Leather Love on drugstore.com for $5.69. I used them on a pair of very used, old, black shoes. They were dirty and very creased. The wipes cleaned the dirt off efficiently, and initially, left a nice sheen. I left them in my closet to dry, as the wipes left them damp. I checked them about an hour later. The lustre that the wipes imbued them with had faded significantly. The wipes did clean them well, but the wipes did not magically make them look better, which actually was too much to ask, really. Additionally, the almond fragrance made the cleaning process more enjoyable. I was excited that this was a green product, and it was relatively affordable at $0.19, a wipe. I was further pleased about the fact that method products are never tested on animals, as it's stated on the pouch.
