Most of us have been taught that we are all ancestors of Adam and Eve. If this is correct, who were the people that lived in the land of Nod? Adam and Eve first had Cain and then Abel. Cain slew Abel, and was driven from the land of Eden. He went east to the land of Nod and took a wife. Cain was in Nod, before Eve conceived and bore Seth. Genesis 4:25 "And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth; For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew." Seth was the third child born. He was to replace Abel, who is now dead by his brother's hand. Who, then, are the people of Nod and how did they get there? On day six of creation, God created man: Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness....." {27} "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Notice that God created male and female. By His spoken word, He created male and female. Where did He place them? Genesis 1:28 "And God blessed them, and said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth..." To replenish something means that there was something there before. They were told to repopulate the earth. Genesis 1:29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth..." They were given dominion over the entire earth. In creation week, God created man and woman, placed them on earth, and told them to repopulate the entire earth. Genesis 2:1 "Thus, the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them." Everything that God created on the first six days was considered 'all the host of them'. Now, let's read another scripture that explains this further: Psalm 33:6 "By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth." The creation of the heavens and earth and all that is upon the earth was by God's Word! On the seventh day, He rested. Now, comes the very interesting part: Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul." Notice that this man was formed out of dirt. He was molded into the image of God, like a potter molds a vase. Notice also, that only one man was formed here. In Genesis 1:27, both male and female were created, (not formed), by the spoken Word. Mankind is made in the image of God and has some characteristics in common with our
