Poetry: My back porch

by Moeze Lalji

The steps were
Talking

The grass was
Unshaven

The flowers
Were smiling

All watered
With full bellies

The next door kids
Break my fence

To collect their
Football

Like my own family
Kids

What do you say
To them

Deaf cheeky ears
Never listen

To pensioners

Sorry grandma
They say

Our dad will fix
Your fence

Their dad has
The same ears
