I'm a simple girl, with simple aspirations. As long as my family is happy, and we have the necessities of life, then I'm happy. Even in matters of love, does this philosophy ring true for me. Not one for public displays of affection, or grandiose ideas of romance, I believe that the greatest ways to say "I love you", is through the smallest of acts.
* Simple Gestures.
Often simple gestures like a touch of the hand, a kiss on the cheek, a lingering look, or a hand placed at the small of the back, are great ways of saying "I love you"; "I'll protect you"; "You are my world".
* The Written Word.
You don't have to posses eloquent speech, or a flowery tongue to put into written words how you truly feel about someone. A short poem, a small note, even a simple card expressing your feelings, is another great way of saying "I love you".
* Thoughtful Gestures.
Getting served breakfast in bed; helping with household chores; picking up after oneself; it's thoughtful gestures like these that tell your significant other that you appreciate and value them.
* Small, Yet Sentimental Gifts.
Even something as simple as small gifts, that carry a sentimental attachment to them, is a great way of saying "I love you". Gifts such as:
1.) a personalized box, containing the letters written during your courtship
2.) a shadow box filled with items from your first date (i.e. ticket stubs from a Broadway play or movie, a theater show program, or the menu from the restaurant you ate at)
3.) a scrapbook with pictures and memorabilia of all the places you've traveled together thus far
4.) bottle of perfume or cologne (the same scent worn on your first date, or on your wedding date)
5.) replicating your first date night
6.) small ceramic or wooden ring box, with your wedding date engraved on the underside of the lid
* Just Say It.
Although it's extremely nice to display your love and adoration through different mediums, there is nothing as special, and as meaningful, as actually saying those three little, yet powerful words - "I love you". Absolutely nothing can take the place of hearing those words.
With the ability to melt the heart of even the most straight-laced individual, these three simple words contain so much magnitude. Possessing the ability to make or break a relationship, ask yourself, have you told your significant other "I love you" today? If not, now is a good time.
