There are very few of us right now that couldn't use a little bit of extra money to get us through to the end of the month. However, with standard employment opportunities in rather short supply, it seems to be an exercise in futility for many who are trying to earn just a bit more. There are many families with one or more of the income providers out of work entirely, but even those who are still members of the workforce are looking for ways to turn a profit in their spare time. The following are some ideas that you may find suitable, whether your spare time is limited or you are finding more and more of it as your employed hours dwindle down.
Writing Sites-Writing online content for websites is a way to earn extra money in your spare time. You can do as little or as much as you want about an enormous variety of topics. Www.elance.com is a site where you can bid for actual writing assignments, whereas www.triond.com, www.helium.com, and www.associatedcontent.com are sites that allow you to select what you write about with no bidding required. These can take longer to actually start making decent earnings, but if you have a love of writing, it's worth it!
Yard Sales-Most of us have an attic or a garage that could use a good cleaning out. The items that you no longer need and use can be gathered to sell in a yard sale. You may want to ask around your neighborhood and see if other households would like to join in for a sort of "neighborhood sale". These attract more people as there is more for sale than at a single residence sale.
Crafting-If you have a craft that you enjoy doing and are proficient at, why not make a bunch of whatever it is you make to sell over the holidays at bazaars and craft fairs. If you are good with your hands, you can also try some of the home assembly jobs that are out there. They don't always pay that well, but if you find one you like, it will help a bit.
Auction Sites-There are many people that make a pretty good wage on sites like www.ebay.com where auctioning items is the task of the day. You may have things at home to list for sale or, if you enjoy shopping, you can look for real bargains to resell.
Data Entry-Queens and kings of the keyboard might be able to pick up some data entry jobs that can be done at home in their spare time.
Surveys-Taking online surveys won't make you rich, but it can put a few extra dollars in your pocket. Never pay to take surveys! If they are asking you for a payment to sign up, more than likely it's a scam. But, there are some that are totally legitimate. To find a good list to begin with, go to www.surveypro.com. Remember, only the free sites!
Child Care-If you enjoy children, you could advertise to do some childcare afterhours or on the weekends.
Odd Jobs-There are still the odd jobs that people will pay to have done for them, such as yardwork, painting, and other chores that you feel apt to do.
Even in today's economy, there are ways that a person can earn a little extra money if only you get creative and think about it. Start with the list above and begin brainstorming for even more. We're all in this together!
