Battlefield 2 is a popular first person shooter game made by the swedish developer DICE and released in 2005 . Ever since it's release Battlefield 2 has been one of the most popular online FPS games and is still widely played to this day .

The gameplay is a deathmatch style battle in which two opposing teams fight for the control of the map by capturing control points . If one team has more control points than the other the latter starts loosing tickets . Your team also looses tickets when players die . The match ends when one team either takes control of the entire map or reduces the opposing team's tickets to zero .

There are three factions in BF2 : The USMC ( United States Marine Corps ) , The PLA ( People's Liberation Army of China) and The MEC ( Middle East Coalition ) . The three factions are pretty similar . The only differences are the character and weapon skins and stats . The soldier classes , commander abilities , vehicle types are the same . And every faction plays the same . There is a wide range of different vehicles . Jeeps , tanks , helicopters , jets , bombers and all sorts of militairy equipment . There are seven different soldier classes : Spec ops - for covert operations and destroying enemy strategic emplacements , assault - your standart rifleman with a grenade launcher , sniper - for long range engagements , support - for machine gun cover and ammo resupplyment , medic - for reviving and healing injured teammates , engineer - for repairing damaged vehicles and ant-tank - for destroying enemy armor .

A very interesting feature is the squad and commander system . A squad consists of up to six players and provides them with VOIP . The leader of the squad can communicate with the commander and give his orders to the squad . The commander can also support those squads with munition or vehicle drops , UAV reconnaissance or artilery support . This gives many new possibilities for teamwork , but the teamwork aspect of Battlefield 2 is a very shallow and undeveloped part of the game

Battlefield 2 is fun , fast paced and simple to learn , but is quite imbalanced . Aircraft dominate the battlefield and can get quite annoying if you don't like piloting jets yourself . BF2 has been out for quite some time , but there are still some frustrating bugs left . Overall , Battlefield 2 is a great arcade first person shooter and is very enjoyable and even a little addictive .
