Are you afraid of personal verbal attack from the external world when you really live your truth? When true to yourself in the right way you cannot be attacked because people cannot get to you. That is how it will feel to you anyhow. It feels like the person they are judging is some form of ghost that they cannot grasp.
As I read on in ACIM it became clearer to me why this is so. What you perceive to be yourself in the illusion is your identity of who you are which is an illusion in itself. Ego creates it and the part of your mind that buys into this illusion combined with ego makes up an illusion that you identify with. The more you identify or agree to this untruth the more real you are to yourself and others in the world of illusion. Thus you have an identity that needs to be defended and justified and judged.
The more you find yourself defending and justifying who you are and are not then is a clear indication of how much illusion you still carry in your perception.
In true perception you don't have identification with ego and your whole mind belongs to you because it does not agree with these egoic illusions anymore. Thus you have no identity. Viewed from within illusion you are like a loose cannon or a program on the pc without an address to identify to. If you are pure being then you have no real solidity in an illusion. Especially when it comes to untouchable mind concepts you will find that they too lose their solidity and definiteness.
Who then can get to you or offend you? They are offending what is not there. You look at the offence without even judging it as an offence. You look at it as what is so. The same way you view a movie. You have spoken your truth from real perception and those who do not understand and feels a need to attack or defend then do what they must in their reality. What they do does not have any meaning to you and thus it does not take any emotional charge from you.
They might judge you as being deluded or egotistical in some way and thus attack an identity, which is not there. You don't defend or judge back because there is nothing to defend or justify. You just let them be and love them for who they are. If they do get to you then you know that there is some remains of identification with ego that you need to deal with. That is also a blessing that keeps you from deluding yourself from true perception.
So then to speak and live your truth is the fastest surest way to get out of the illusion to real perception. People around
