I stand before a mirror
Cheeks aglow
Skin like pearls
Oh how pretty-
Another dance tonight.
Whirling and twirling in the arms of strange men
Whispers, words of love
sonnets so beautiful
Oh, how the days have past...
into months, then years...
I stand before a mirror
Eyes dark
Skin battered and weathered
Prettiness faded
No dance tonight.
No strange men.
No whirling...no twirling.
Oh, how the days have passed...
