"Overcoming 'What Ifs'..."
Unfortunantely, one of the biggest deterrents to finding salvation is that nagging human malady called doubt. We ask ourselves 'what if I'm wrong? What if the information is incomplete? What if, what if, what if?" Part of what fuels this problem is the make up of our human minds. We are trying to "wrap our finite brains around an infinate plan!"
In understanding the scriptures, we must approach the task with one forethought...FAITH! We need to be willing to accept what we study as equally credible to that of any alternative explainations of life. As students of life, we have to trust in God's ability and desire to provide us with ALL we need for salvation. If we approach religious study with fear it may not be complete, we will never give ourselves the chance to truly believe! Such anxieties allow Satan the chance he needs to wear away at faith, and possibly destroy it altogether!
Consider this: IF God's explanation of creation were somehow wrong or incomplete, wouldn't we have to raise questions about all other religious doctrine? We would also have to call into question such ideas as the Origin of Species, or the "Big Bang Theory." Soon, we would find ourselves unable to believe in any set of ideals at all! Eventually, each of us has to rely on some sort of faith in order to conclude what we finally accept as truth.
In support of the Christian doctrine, many others have attempted to promote spiritual viewpoints different from those of "Christ crucified." Unbelievers have attempted to expose the scriptures as fraudulent altogether...and NONE have been successful! The bible has withstood all challenges launched against it each and every time. Additionally, a book such as the Holy Bible, which names so many dates and events of wordly history within its stories, should be easy to disprove if it were inaccurate.
The sixty-six books which comprise the bible were agreed upon only after theologians from several different disciplines were consulted. The Holy Bible was written over a period of approximately 1500 years, by at least 40 different authors, who were spread out over a number of geographic regions.
Considering these facts, some would say these facts alone are enough to discredit its teachings. With so many people, over such a long period of time, contributing to the scriptures, how could the continuity of salvation's message be maintained? It just HAS to be tainted or incomplete in some way. However, others see these same
