Poetry: Apathy

by Corinna Craddock

I could smile with a tear in my eye
and bring the sky to form
clouds of apathy where battered hearts lie
thrust love to death within my storm

Squashing butterflies and honeybees
I'm not afraid of mess
or shamed by anything my spirit sees
or care if God does love me less

But no I promised my Crayolas
before I ran to play
that all my hearts were drawn with real love
and that promise I keep today!
