The question is should teens face criminal charges for sending X-Rated photos through their cell phones. There are laws already in place that should be enforcing this issue. FCC regulations state that any form of sexual related documents sent via the air waves is strictly prohibited.
Those that police this regulation are the ones that are allowing such information to be transmitted. Teens believe this to be OK if nobody is telling them it is not. Should the parents be responsible for watching their children's use of cell phones? Yes they should be and in fact more responsible for the teen's activity in all phase's of their lives, from driving to chatting on the computer, and yes to even texting on their cell phones.
The fact is these children are not being educated as to the use of cell phones. It is believed that parents are not equipped to teach their pre-adult children the desired use of such an object as they may not be up to date on the use of a cell phone themselves. So who then must teach them, the public, the school system, and is this a standard that should be taught? To answer this question one must look at society as a whole. Has it become a norm to text whatever comes along and accept it as just another text in bad taste or is it just another issue of our times that has been ignored.
If teens are to face criminal charges for sending dirty pictures through their cell phones, then the first thing we must do as a society is to make it known we will not allow this kind of behavior from our teens. The next thing we better be prepared to do is to enforce the law, and with that educate these kids on what is right and what is wrong.
Children only imitate what they have been taught and to this point parents, educators, and society as a whole has allowed this type of behavior to take place for so long it has become the norm for teens to act in such a way.
No, teens should not be charged with criminal charges for sending explicit photos through their cell phones. They should however be taught that it is wrong to do so and not to send things that may portray a rather bad example for those that follow in their footsteps.
As adults we should want our kids to be better than us. They should be more responsible, reliable, and dependable than we were. Our children should learn that the only way to change the status quo is to become better people less tolerable of such moral issues, and more aware of what is going on around them and their children.
