Men's shoes to wear with jeans

When choosing suitable and stylish shoes to go with men's jeans, it helps if both the character of the jeans and shoes match. Rugged blue, faded denim jeans with frayed edges, for example, can look great with equally rugged looking shoes, rather than neat lace-ups. Likewise, smart black jeans look fabulous with sleek, leather black shoes, but wouldn't look right with casual loafers. The following is a guide to finding the right shoes for men to pair with particular styles of jeans.

Denim jeans

Denim is a versatile material. When blue it teams beautifully with either brown, tan, or grey shoes, but can fall flat when teamed with black shoes if you're not careful.

Most of us tend to think of blue denim jeans as belonging to a man who likes to both work and play hard. The material is hard wearing, and so suitable for various activities. Likewise, the shoes which best pair with denim jeans are those which are sturdy and made for action.

Boat shoes, such as Gants, 'Oceanic', lend an attractive outdoor appeal to such jeans. 'Sebago Spinnaker Dockside' shoes with contrasting color panels can add the element of fun.

Sports shoes often work well with denim jeans too. The 'Shimano America MT70' is a mountain bike shoe made for comfort and flexibility which looks great with denim, as do 'Roddy', which are campaign sneakers by Hugo Boss.

Faded slouch jeans

Jeans such as these are generally worn when the owner intends to be casual and relax. This is perhaps why loafers really do look great with them. Jasper Conan's, 'Bruno Tassel Loafers', fit the bill perfectly by being comfortable and stylish.

Traditional penny loafers are less expensive, although more than the penny that the name suggests to purchase, and 'Sycamore French Apron' loafers are a little different if the wearer wants to combine sophistication with relaxation.

Sandals go well with jeans which are suitable for whiling away the hours in. Those with buckles, made in brown suede can add a bohemian feel to a mans over all appearance, while Hi Tec sandals, such as 'Montezuma', add versatile comfort due to their flexibly and the fact that they are so lightweight.

Smart jeans

Smart, or 'going out', jeans may be made out of any material from denim to cotton, but what they all have in common is that they tend to be made from thick material, with a great style, and usually come in indigo blue or black.

Loafers, moccasins, sandals and flip flops are too casual to wear with this style of jeans. Instead, a man can opt to wear leather lace- ups or slip on shoes in black or tan. 'Chester', Gibson brogues fit this description nicely. Their classic, streamlined appearance has an air of sophistication that is required to team with smart jeans.

Classic Oxfords, such as 'Cambridge' shoes, are elegant, and so great for wearing out to a semi formal occasion, or for a hot date.

Men can team the right shoes with the perfect pair of jeans by making sure both items of apparel match in style and taste. A mans personality will allow him to make alterations to the above guide to suit his image, likes and dislikes.
