It is, or should be, a forgone conclusion that we are all literally born into sin. That is, we have no choice in the world into which we are born; it is sinful. However, we do have a choice in how we deal with that sin. We can give in to it and have a death sentence abiding within us or we can submit ourselves unto God, resist the devil, and cause the devil to flee from us, just as James 4:7 tells us. Which ever the case may be, it is our choice.
Just as a general definition, sin is anything which is contrary to the Laws and the Word of God. It may also include anything or anyone who tends to lead another in that same direction. When God gave us the Ten Commandments, He did so not so that we could live by them. God knew that there was no man who could ever live by each and every one of those commandments. He did this to show us all what sinners we were in His sight and to show us the great need in our lives for a change; to show mankind his need for a Savior.
Then came Jesus Christ. By His ministry we were shown not only the need to change and the need for a Savior, but Jesus also showed us where sin comes from and how to deal with it. That is to say, Jesus showed mankind that sin comes from Satan who is the father of sin. He exposed the devils who either possess an individual or influence an individual's behavior so as to cause him to sin. Then Jesus also showed us that we can deal with them and how to go about it. And I state this also - Any time that you are locked into a behavioral sin and you cannot seem to get out of it, no matter how you struggle against it, I guarantee you that there is a devil/demon in the picture somewhere. Now, don't take that statement the wrong way. I'm not saying that all people who are living in sin are possessed by a devil or a demon. It could very well be that someone just isn't trying to break that cycle of sin, or someone isn't praying about it, or someone hasn't the faith to accomplish the mission, etc. There could be a number of reasons why we appear to be unable to stop sinning. All we really need to do is examine the teachings of Jesus and find out what He taught concerning the subject of getting rid of sin in our lives.
Romans 8:1 says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
The only way that we are able to avoid sin and the death resulting from it is to walk after the Spirit of God. Contrary to what some will say, this does
