The requirement to read many books a week is unrealistic and no one can do it. It would be good to read many books each week, but it is almost impossible, we do not have time for that, nor we have the patience too.
We can only choose the best books, and there are even recommendations on this classic selection on any newspaper and in the library also. A German philosopher recommends parsimony to dive in libraries: the art of reading is not important. Only then you can select, in the midst of mediocrity that prevails at any time or place, those few works that really worthwhile. To read the good, a condition is not read the bad: because life is short, and time and energy, scarce, pontificates the philosopher. The problem is that the time of a mortal life is short, too short, even for those who focus only to good or the best. This is something well worth to remember all the times. Life is to short to be spent with second class books so choose only the best!
There are several indirect ways to know a book critical of the summaries, so the friends talk, the position of books in libraries and catalogs. Listen to them to see which books are the most important ones to read.
Deciding what not to read has become increasingly difficult specially with the digital content. Facing a flood of books and articles and many texts available on the Internet on any site, the charming and attractive as if they were magnets, it is not easy to decide the best over the most pleasant and attractive. You can use Google to decide but even so the results are too much to anyone!
If we are able to choose, our time spent with content of low quality books, we are making a very poor choice. For this reason, we choose to know:
See the author's name and a brief introduction of it. You will have an idea whether or not he is able to write a good book and if it's worth any more time from you.
See some content after the introduction. If you do not like the first pages, the rest of the book will be almost the same too.
Read a few lines from the beginning, middle and end of the book. The form of writing is enjoyable? Is the author objective and assertive and easy to reach? The vocabulary is rich and easy to understand? You cannot carry a dictionary with you all the times. You cannot carry any more extra books and spend even more time with them.
Compare this book with others of the same. What books gives you the most value?
Now you just need to go to your library or to the Internet and choose something worth your time and happy reading.
