Why you can't change what you don't admit

For change to happen there needs to be recognition of the need to change. If you cannot see what you are doing you cannot change it. If you are living in denial then in effect you are hiding from the truth. Truth is always in the light, when you cannot see the truth you are living in darkness.

The opposite of change is standing still. Change needs action; If you are living in the past the energy is stagnant. There is no flow of new energy therefore, you see what you have always seen, you believe what you have always believed and you do what you have always done. Not admitting to what is wrong in your life, not accepting responsibility for what is happening to you means you cannot change, because you are not even aware that there is another way.

For a new way of being you need to unearth the old way of being. This is painful at times and even though the will may be there the courage may be weak. When you look at your life with all it's warts and all it can feel very uncomfortable. Taking the blame for your life mistakes is also something you'd rather not do, It is easier to blame others for your life not working out.

Once you have plucked up enough courage and you have made a decision to really look at yourself inside and out then this is where there is acceptance, hence you admit that the way you have being, thought or believed has not worked for you. A burst of positive energy can then rush in and help push the old 'stuff' out.

Once the 'stuff' comes out you can see what has been hiding, clearly in the light. If it is hidden it is in the dark, it cannot be seen therefore you cannot change, but once in the light, you cannot ignore the truth glaring at you. You cannot pretend anymore to yourself because it hurts more now knowing that you can change and won't.

Therefore, once you have your 'stuff' out in the open, you are ready for change. Now what is needed is perseverance and dedication. There will be times when you will revert to your old ways. The best thing is not to become disheartened. You must remember with a new skill you need time to learn it.

It would be helpful if there is someone who can give you encouragement in your quest for change. If you do not have someone to support you, try to picture your life in the new way of being which you want, keep strong, keep positive and know that you are one step closer to changing your life to how you really want it.
