Poetry: Missing a loved one

Since You've Been Gone
(Dedicated To My Husband - The Love of My Life)

Days are long...
and the nights oh so lonely,
the hours go painfully slow;
the silence reminds me you're nowhere,
yet I look for you
wherever I go.

Since your death
I often time wonder,
what to do with the rest of my life;
I miss every 'date night' together,
but most of all
I miss being your wife.

You loved me
more than I dreamed of,
with all of your heart and your soul;
but now there's a void in my being,
and now I'm just half
of our whole.

Thirty years
is a lifetime to love,
to share and to laugh and to cry;
to hold, to 'get me,' to be there,
oh how I wish
you were still alive.

Without you
my world's cold and empty,
filled with grief, isolation and fears;
this journey is hard all alone,
much anguish
heartache and tears.

Though I try
nothing makes any sense now,
each day promises more of the same;
so I'll miss you today and tomorrow,
because all I know
now is pain.

I'll love you
forever my prince of a man,
and to honor you - I won't fall apart;
I'll try hard to find my place in the world,
with you hidden
deep in my heart.
