The motto of a good boss is " I will never ask you to do something that I would not do myself ". Any one in authority should lead by example. It is hard to be an employee and find a good boss, and even harder to be one yourself. If you are wondering what makes a good boss, then keep reading .

Some qualities of a good boss are loyalty and genuine caring . You should stand by your employees and teach without judging. Patience is another necessary quality. Imagine yourself as the company dad. You need to be open and a person that people can look up to. Love your employees like a big family, even if sometimes you will have to show tough love.

You also have to be firm. Being to nice can lead to employees taking advantage of you. Making sure that your employees are well trained and an asset to your business is important. If an employee is constantly late to work or calling in sick, then you have to take charge and fire that person for everyone's benefit. It is not fair to your other good employees if they are always taking up slack for someone else. Always look out for everyone's best interest. You will be a leader when you can do that automatically.

Confidence is essential in being a good boss. You have to be confident for yourself and for everyone that works for you. Even in hard times you need to stay positive. Compliment your workers and tell them when they do a something right. A smile really goes a long way . Try and be upbeat and happy as often as you can be. Also know that everyone makes mistakes. Learn to be forgiving if the mistakes are few and far between in a person.

A good boss should also be a friend. Your workers should be able to come to you with problems. Sometimes a good listener is all that is needed to help clear someones mind . Be the person that they can talk to for any reason. Have an open door relationship with your workers.

Being a good boss means that you appreciate your employees. A raise every so often shows that you are paying attention. Also give bonuses at holidays as a reward. A company dinner is a good way to show appreciation too. It also helps you to connect with your employees.

It takes a lot of hard work to be a good boss. You can't always be the friendly guy , but always be the guy that tries to help when he can. You need to have respect from your employees and if you are a good boss you will get it.
