Making cheap Christmas gifts does not have to be harder than it sounds. You don't need any special skills or talents to make simple, yet inexpensive, Christmas gifts that your friends and family will love.
If you are a knitter or love to crochet, then you already have many options for what kinds of gifts you can make. You can make scarves, mittens, socks, or hats, and these are all cheap yet wonderful gifts to make and to give. Those are also all items which do not use much yarn, so you can get away with using only one, two, or three balls of yarn and spend less than $10.
If you work well when working with wood, then you can make small, simple items that will inspire your gift recipients. For example, you can make your own picture frames, and then put pictures in them. If you tell your recipients that you made the frame, you will surely get compliments. Don't forget about embellishing or decorating your frames further. The more complicated they look, the more compliments you will get.
If you like to sew, then you also have a wide array of gifts you can make. For instance, if you have an old pair of jeans lying around, you can make a jean purse. Or, if you have some excess fabric stashed away, you can start making a simple shirt. Or, if the fabric is sheer enough, you can make a spring/summer scarf.
You can give some "homemade" candles by purchasing candles from a store and some fancy ribbon. Or, you can also buy some twine and beads. String a few beads on the twine and then wrap the twine around the middle part of a large, wide candle. You can also string some beads on the ribbon and tie it around the middle of the candle, or you can leave as is and tie the ribbon without the use of the beads.
If you can string a few beads, you can make some simple jewelry. If you want your jewelry to look more professional, you can purchase some magazines or books or go online to find some designs that will wow your recipients. Nevertheless, you will find that making your own jewelry will save you a lot of money. You can also use beads to design other, inexpensive things that may need some pizzazz. For example, if you buy a blank canvas bag, then you can sew beads onto one side that spells out the recipient's name.
So, if you want to give Christmas presents but you don't want to empty your bank account, you can choose to make your own gifts. It's fun and will most of the time take time and patience, but your recipients will love the thought that you put into their presents.
