Cheap ways to spruce up your bathroom

The bathroom can become one of the dreariest rooms in the house. But, it doesn't have to be. You can use inexpensive, yet beautiful, ways to spruce up your bathroom and make it more eye-pleasing. The following tips will show you how.

First, candles will make any room look sophisticated for the least amount of money. You can use any type of candle, but remember that each type will convey a different mood or setting. For example, if you want to use a tapered candle in a candleholder, you might end up conveying the mood of conventional or traditional Victorian. Make sure that you look back at your finished setting and think, "What kind of mood or generation does this remind me of?" You can buy cheap candles at dollar stores, thrift stores, discount stores, etc.

Potpourri's place in the bathroom is often misunderstood. Potpourri not only adds fragrance to the room, it also adds a flowery aura to the room. This makes the room appear more feminine, so if you have dark cabinets in your bathroom or large tiles or tiles with complex decorations, then using potpourri will complement those items and decorations.

Bathrooms are usually small. Painting a room will generally make it stand out more and will dramatically change its appearance without too much effort. If you choose to paint your bathroom, do so by choosing a color that isn't too bold or too distracting. For instance, darker colors will make a room appear smaller. So, if your bathroom is already small, choose a light color. Light colors generally will work with a wide array of accessories. Also, you don't even have to paint the whole room. You can put a border at the very bottom, the very top, or in the middle of the walls. Wainscotting is also a great option if you want to make your bathroom look more contemporary yet elegant.

Another way to spruce up your bathroom is to change the linen that is in there. For instance, you may want to change your shower curtain. All shower curtain liners will basically be the same color, but the actual curtain itself could lend a nice touch to the whole bathroom's look. Use towels that complement the bathroom's paint color. That is why light paint colors work well; even if you have sage green towels, they will work well with a crme-colored or light brown colored paint.

As you can see, making your bathroom look great is not as difficult as it seems. You don't have to do a complete renovation in order to wow people. Just changing a few accessories and colors is enough to make your bathroom one of the most beautiful rooms in the house.
