Keeping down on kid's clutter: Best ways to store children's artwork

Being a mom is not an easy task, and very time consuming, so having a less cluttered life would be great but since that is not likely to happen, how about a less cluttered home? The more stuff you have the less time you have because there is more to clean and put away. Well here from the creators of The Mommy Chronicles are some de-junking strategies are in their new book.

Show Your Kids How to Help

Give your children specific instructions on how to clean and pick their room. Giving simple orders like Clean Your Room is way to vague of a statement for most children, and it can also be overwhelming. Break down big jobs into smaller task and be specific such as telling them to Pick up all the blocks and put them in the block box.

Make sure there is enough storage space for all their stuff, clothes, and shoes. Maximize their closet space by hanging shoe racks on the doors, which you can use for more than just shoes. Add hooks for hats, belts, necklaces, tote bags, robes, and so on. If their hangers and drawers are out of reach then make sure to keep a library stool in their room so your children can reach their clothes which makes it easier for them to clean up or get dressed.

Get Crafty With Art Work

Mount clips on a wall near the kitchen, low enough for your kids to reach where they can hang up their creations for everyone to see and this gives add space to help make your refrigerator less cluttered.

Put up a magnetic board in their room, the playroom, or the kitchen so they can switch our displays of their art creations.

Hang a long ribbon string on a wall with clothes-pins for attaching artwork. This is an easy and very inexpensive way to show off your children's masterpieces.

A more expensive solution is to buy frames with an opening on the back that makes it easy to slide artwork in and out for exhibiting various pieces.

Purge Toys Regularly

Kids rarely want to part with their toys and for the toys that have sentimental value make it hard for the parents to part with as well, but here are some creative ideas to make it a little easier for all parties involved to get rid of toys no longer needed and free up some space and time.

For very young children, sometimes it's easiest to simply take an item and put it away (hide it) for a while, then once the child has forgotten about you can get rid of it without them having to know. This will also help the sentimental parents because it is a two part process. Somehow it is easier to get rid of a toy that has been sitting in
