This past weekend I did a marathon "under-48-hours-mommy-is-getting-a-break-and-is-gett ing-an-entire king-size-bed-to-herself" trip to Toronto to surprise one of my best friends at her 'keep it a secret she doesn't know anything about this' wedding shower. The trip of course was a total blur [it went by way too fast] and the real test was taking place at home, where hubby was taking care of the two kiddies by himself for the first time EVER [he was exhausted by hour four for the record].

During the course of the weekend, a single girlfriend and I were talking about my kiddies, the hubby and all that comes with love and marriage. At one point she asked me how did I know I had found the 'one'. The question came partially out of her concern that a guy she had recently broken up with could have been the 'one' and now that he had exited her life, she feared she was going to be doomed to a life of loveless relationships and misery.

All I had as a comeback to that question was a slight shrug of the shoulders and a 'I don't know, you just know'. I wish there was a more dramatic light bulb moment [like a big neon arrow that magically lowers down from the heavens pointing to the guy you are destined to marry] but reality is, it's a lot of window shopping and trial and error and then when you least expect it...kaboom you find the 'one'.

So of course one conversation leads to another and over our bottle of wine, we started delving into our past relationships bringing up all the drama that is the "exes". That's when we started doing the song association game because we yummy mummies know that every ex has THAT song that totally brings us down memory lane.

So, wine consumption notwithstanding, here is the 'songs for our exes' music list that we came up with...because every 'girls weekend getaway' has that Sex in The City relationship reflection moment. Truth is what relationship doesn't kill your heart only makes it stronger....

Oh in case you were wondering...the wedding shower was a complete success...Stephanie had no idea...the covert operation was well played out. And my husband has declared that I can never go away again, until the kiddies are over the age of ten. Ultimately, this weekend showed him how hard mummy work really is.
