A human being always has the desire to appear better. For children, it's their natural desire to appear more mature. We often see how to wish they've grown up, although on the other side, grown up people also wish to stay young.
In order to "grow up faster", they often imitate what adults do, in their eyes, through their observation. Things that are attributed to maturity will be their dream, their wish.
Girls will certainly notice that adult women wear make-up, with lipstick as the first noticeable cosmetic due to its color. Therefore, many little girls will wish to wear lipstick and once they draw lip lines with the lipstick, they feel proud. Same thing goes with bra, for instance. We can notice how proud they are when they wear their first bra.
Completely barring the little girls from adult attribute will be unwise in my personal opinion, since it will make the desire burn even more, and they might realize their burning desire the wrong way. Those adult attributes may be gradually introduced in a seamless way to girls, giving them a sense of pride and confidence. Certainly, there's nothing more terrifying than seeing friends already wearing make-up, except themselves.
In the past, before wearing lipstick, my mom would put on lip gloss for me, to give a glossy effect on my lips. And hey, it felt good. My mom would say that the red color wouldn't suit me well, it would make me look too old and ugly. To assure me, my mom put on her own lipstick for me and allowed me to see myself in the mirror, comparing to my mom's look with the same lipstick. After replacing the lipstick with lip gloss, I looked much better. Later, as I grew up, real lipsticks with soft colors were introduced. I was in my teens at that time, and my mom called it: teenager's lipsticks. Along with the lipsticks, some other make-up components were introduced and I was taught when to put on what: my very first beauty class, came from my mom.
One thing was certain: make up is not a goal. Beauty is the goal. In order to look beautiful before reaching teens, little girls don't need colorful make-ups. It's because their skin is still young and good. Later on, as we grow older, more make-up is needed to enhance our beauty and to conceal some parts. This belief has to be emphasized to avoid applying make-up inappropriately, making ourselves look terrible.
At the same time, we need to know that it's the inner beauty that matters more and good guys always prefer natural beauty rather excessive make-up being applied. Rather than relying on make-up to be confident, which results in never-ending and excessive application of make-up, which may lead some girls to look excessively revealing, we must know that make-up is simply an aid to again, emphasize our most beautiful aspect and conceal the least. It's a small difference in belief, but a huge difference in the resulting look.
With such a belief, there's no way make-up to be introduced too early, which may lead our little girls to look awfully old. They are always beautiful from the inside, and let the inner beauty be revealed to the world in the most natural and elegant ways.
