Ah Sweet Motherhood, a job that your probably received without any prior training, instruction manuals, or future promises for cost of living salary increases. Did anyone ever promise you minimum wage, a lunch break, a vacation, a personal day,-heaven forsake, a sick day ? That scenario is as probably as likely as your child telling you to take a fifteen minute coffee break, or giving you a Holiday bonus for being such a valuable employee.
As the saying goes, "such a thankless job"; yet we continue to bear the fruit of our womb, and sometimes in multiple quantities. Each subsequent child taking a little more of Mommy's brain cells, and tummy muscles, as well. So why desperately apply for a position that appears to pay so little, with the "corporate ladder" being a 2 foot stool used to reach cobwebs creeping in dusty corners ?
Because the rewards of motherhood aren't monetary; Lord knows chocolate kisses can't be deposited in bank accounts, but accrue wisely in a mothers heart depository. Little dimpled hands offer more support than a CEO's firm handshake. And sometimes, bedtime prayers and "I love you Mom" are the sweetest sounds to a weary soul. Unbalanced infants grow into sturdy toddlers, and terrible teens mature into brilliant best friends. Such are the rewards of Motherhood.
Regardless of your age, or your mother's, there are so many valuable gifts to honor the woman who worked so tirelessly to ensure your restful life. I offer some simple gifts suggestions, that can be sent express mail, straight from your heart to your Mom's.
WORDS : Mother's have always been lover's of the written language, and none more cherished than their child's expressions. Write or type your feelings toward your mother. Say what you feel and feel what you say. Life passes so quickly and far too many people have regrets for never telling their loved ones how they are appreciated, adored, and respected. Tell your mom.Type it, write it, sing it, or create a poem; but express it loudly and proudly ! Color it, print it, fax it, highlight it, or record it;-whatever creative road you choose is fine; just be sure to travel down it!
POWER POINT: That's right folks, we might not be as savvy as our children, but they make excellent power point presentations. My eleven year old gave me a power point Mother's Day card that put Hallmark to shame. It was filled will silly little sayings and goofy family fiasco's; but I loved it and continue to savor the thought of that Mother's Day
