Tips for keeping kids fit without team sports

All parents worry about their children's health and keeping them fit. Many children do not like team sports. Some parents do not have time in their schedules to allow their children to participate in team sports. So how do you keep children fit when they are not in team sports? There are a few ways to keep children fit when they are not active team sports.

The first way to keep your children fit, when not in team sport, is to allow plenty of outside play time. Children love to play outside. You can get toys like jump ropes, basketballs, and bikes for them to play on. Allowing your children to run around and play outside will help them stay fit and also keep them happy.

If you are worried about your child's fitness make it a family activity. Children love to spend time with their parents. Make family time an active time. Go take a bike ride together or play Frisbee. There are numerous activities that you can do as a family. If you are active as a family not only will your child be fit but so will you.

Another step in helping your child stay if is to encourage play dates. When children get together they seem to have even more energy so allow your child to have many play dates. When you are having play dates at your home encourage the children to be active. Allow your children and their friends to play outside or in a room with a lot of space to run without getting hurt.

Allowing your children to play will generally keep them fit but if you are still concerned about your child's fitness you can join a family gym. Many family gyms now have where children can exercise through play while you are exercising in another part of the gym. Your children will be having fun and being looked after while you are keeping yourself fit.

Another way to keep your child fit while not in a team sport is to allow them to join other activities such as children's yoga. There are a number of exercise programs that have been adapted for children to enjoy. Your children will like learning something new and being able to do something that has been reserved for adults until now.

An area of fitness that is often over looked is food. It is important to feed your children healthy balanced meals. Your child will not be very fit if they have a happy meal for dinner every night. Making sure your children eat properly will help in their fitness.

Your child does not have to be in a team sport in order to be fit. Children that are allowed to be active and who eat healthy will be fit.
