It is a ride, though a tough one, to see the brighter side of "recession". Certain "minor shocks" are required to actually gear up to the real world. They trigger us to work hard and be smart, to do what is right and just. If everything is smooth and nice, we tend to forget to appreciate the good things that we are getting so used to. Change is the only permanent thing. And whoever is ready for the change is ready for survival again.
This recession has sure taught all of us lessons in our own ways. Following are some examples,
1) Job hopper is finally succinct at the job and does no more hop just for financial gains.
2) Dining out for entertainment has been understood that it is meant for a celebration and is not a routine.
3) Parents no more feel guilty of working late hours and appreciate quality time with family. (So what if you have been fired or have less working hours now!)
4) Home cooking is much appreciated now. It's a healthy saving, saving health.
5) The gardens look more lovely with fruits and vegetables and not just brightly colored flowers.
6) Our cars get to rest too. Not just consume gas and run all the time.
7) Birthdays are more a family affair with everything being done at home, including the cake. How sweet! (You have no idea how much you save on this!)
8) You actually bend down to pick the penny you dropped unlike before where you wouldn't care. Well, every penny counts and it's value too!
9) Sharing the drive has become a fun- affair suddenly with car-pool idea. What a way to hit the road (and recession)!
10) Neutral (generic) color is now accepted. No personal touches or specialization required.
11) You have a reason to gift what you like and what's good to your pocket too. Sometimes "I made them for you especially" has a reason.
12) Men who wanted their wives to be a homemaker have changed from "I'll take care of you" to "You need to be independent".
13) We finally started saying NO to everything our kids want. Finally we get to discipline them (ourselves too).
14) We no more complain about working a few hours extra. (We now have an understanding family.)
15) Drinking too much and that too expensive ones are no more the cool now. (You know, it's not good for health.)
16) Dental and personal hygiene are very important. We avoid frequent visits. ( and copay too.)
17) Never mind if we use the same kind of product bought in wholesale store. We are a family with same taste. (Wholesale - a pocket saver and family too!)
18) My kids are lucky to have wonderful
