Created on: May 07, 2009

If you're a fan of the Sci-Fi Channel television show Ghost Hunters, then you'll definitely enjoy reading the book 'Ghost Hunting' by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson with Michael Jan Friedman. Hawes and Wilson have become synonymous with the investigation of the paranormal. If you're a paranormal investigator, or interested in things like ghosts and spirits, you'll definitely find some interesting stories in this book and learn a great deal about the techniques and equipment used to gather evidence of the paranormal.

Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, two Roto-Rooter plumbers from Rhode Island, started investigating the paranormal many years ago. Having both had paranormal encounters as children, the two of them had a lot in common when they became friends and decided to start a team of investigators to help others with unexplained occurrences in their homes. They call their paranormal investigation group The Atlantic Paranormal Society, or TAPS for short. With their knowledge of plumbing and home repairs, they are able to debunk or explain most of the paranormal activity in many people's homes. This is what makes them different from other 'Ghost Hunters'.

Despite being believers themselves, they don't go into supposedly haunted buildings thinking they will encounter ghosts or spirits. Unlike other ghost hunting television shows, Hawes and Wilson spend most of their time explaining away the supposed haunting, digging up evidence of what is really taking place. Everything from bad wiring in the walls, pipes that rattle in the basement, and distant cars driving by can often be revealed as the reason for the mistaken haunting. But just to be sure, the TAPS crew sets up state of the art equipment like video recorders, audio recorders, and motion detectors as they investigate all the rooms in the house for several hours. With hand held equipment like EMF detectors, heat sensors, and thermometers they walk around looking for signs of what could be ghosts but also what could 'not' be ghosts. After they have painstakingly reviewed hours of recordings to see if there is any evidence of paranormal activity, they consult with the owners of the house as to what is actually going on and offer advice. For many years Hawes and Wilson, along with their TAPS teammates, have been helping locals with possible hauntings throughout the New England area.

Eventually their ghost hunting expertise caught the attention of a television producer, and their hobby became a hit television
