As I am 3 months away from graduating college, I have never been more excited to finally be done with school. I have been longing for the day that I never have to step foot into another classroom ever again. College has been work, work, and more work. A lot of the classes I have taken have been irrelevant to my major of Communication and I have retained none of the information. Some classes are electives, which just end up hindering my GPA.
The first quarter that I ever attended college, I thought it was the greatest experience ever. I felt so grown up living on my own and taking care of myself. I soon learn to realize how difficult it came to be. Trying to balance school work, friends, fun, extra activities, etc., became way too stressful. As hard as I tried in school, I still wanted to have my fun. All I ever wanted was to be done with school from that point on. I just couldn't handle it anymore.
Most of my friends had slacked off and started taking quarters off and having their fun or getting jobs to save up money. Me, on the other hand, I pushed on and continued to suffer through an hour and forty-eight minute classes. I did not want college to drag on any longer than it had too.
Now that I am preparing for graduation and finishing up my last 3 classes, I am regretting pushing to get out of college so quickly. Time has flown by way too fast. I am not ready to start finding a real job, paying for my own things, and starting my grown up life. I never realized how much I love college. I would much rather sit in class for 4 hours a day than go to work for 8 stressful hours a day. What was I ever thinking? My college career is almost over, and I never thought that the day would come. The past 4 years have been the best years of my life. Once I graduate, the fun is over. No more going out on weekday nights, staying up late with friends, skipping classes, winter/spring/summer vacations, etc.
So, if I have any advice to give to freshmen, it would be to make the best out of your college life. Time flies by faster than you know, and as much as school is no fun, work is going to be a million times worse. Try hard in school, but also let loose and do not stress yourself out. Study, study, study, but give yourself a break once in a while. You only live once and believe me, college will definitely be something to look back on and remember as the good times of your life.
