There is nothing more joyous then helping celebrate the birth of a new baby boy or girl, but when the sex is a secret, finding the perfect shower gift can be a struggle. Many people flock to the popular unisex colors, green and yellow. That does not really leave room for your outfit to stand out.

Consider something organic. Many times organic clothes come in neutral earthy colors. This will break up the monotony of opening yellow and green outfits. If the mother to be is into environmental causes, she will truly appreciate the outfit.

Instead of choosing something based on how adorable it is, opt for practicality. Load your cart up with baby socks, onesies, bibs and newborn gowns in a variety of sizes. A new parent can never have too many of these items. Remember you can always bring a cute outfit to the hospital once the baby is born.

It is in style to dress baby in tees with funny little saying on them. Choosing to gift a comical shirt is a great gift. There is a variety of sayings available and you will be able to find the perfect saying to suit your personality as well as the new parents. There is a variety out there and if you cannot find something perfect, having one made is easy.

Depending on how close you are to the parents, why not consider having a photo onesie made. You could choose a sentimental photo of mom and dad at their wedding or you could choose to use that embarrassing photo of mom as a baby in the bathtub. You may have to do a bit of work to track down the perfect picture, but the grandparents will most likely lend a hand in this department.

Why not purchase a boy outfit and a girl outfit? Many stores now print gift receipts. You can include it with the card and a little note saying that they can return the unused outfit and get something a little more suitable. This way, baby will have at least one outfit that he can wear and not have his sexuality questioned.

What ever you choose to purchase for the new arrival, be sure to consider the size and season. No matter how cute the outfit, if it is a summer outfit in baby's winter size it is not going to do much good. It can be a bit tricky attempting to estimate how big baby will be in a few months. It is better to go a size up and have the outfit a little big than have it too small.

Don't fret, baby clothes are one of the easiest things to buy, even if you don't know the sex. Have you ever really seen an ugly baby outfit? Chances are you haven't, because they don't exist. When you're standing in the baby department sifting through the racks, something is guaranteed to catch your eye. You are more likely to have difficulty narrowing your selection down than picking something out.
