The Tree Who Never Had Enough
Ahead of all my brethren
I stand in a meadow of eternal lush
Yet the grass shows sickening shades of grey
I stand alone, but why do I regret it now?
For If I hadn't, my leaves would not have been the finest
My branches not the widest
My height not the highest
I am amongst those in the topmost canopy
Then why am I not happy?
The fruits I bear, Oh! The countless fruits
That pull me to the ground
To bow, before the Creator in gratitude
But no! I want more
For these fruits seem so less and hollow
I pray for more tomorrow
And the day after, to drown my sorrow
How do I convince the wind that helps me dance
To stop? For I wish to stand in a melancholy trance.
Ambition drives the many
Who wish to be on top
But it's surely an addictive wine
Making you beg more for more of life.
The humans, the birds, the beasts, I impress
Do they know their benefactor is in stress?
Deep inside, he is a wreck, and a mess.
The dew on his leaves are his many tears
That he sheds to mourn his lonesome years.

In a prarie by the lake
Stands a mighty maple tree
There are oh, so many leaves
On its branches blowing free
