The E.L.F. Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara is a highly affordable eyelash and brow product. On the E.L.F website, the clear mascara is only $1. This is such a bargain when one realizes that it is so much more inexpensive than the cost of other drugstore clear mascaras like: Cover Girl Professional Natural Lash in Clear and Maybelline Great Lash in Clear, which are approximately $4.79 and $4.49, respectively.
Before buying, it is a wise idea to check review sites like makeupalley.com to see if a product is worth your time. Sure, the clear mascara is a real bargain, but what's the point if it could be a lemon? Out of the 86 reviews on Makeup Alley, 87% of all reviewers would buy the product again. The mascara got 4.2 out of 5. That is a good sign!
I went ahead and ordered E.L.F. Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara in 2201 Crystal. The packaging is impressive, especially for the price. The makeup doesn't "look cheap." The mascara has two separate sides, and they are both labeled. One side at the bottom says eyelashes; one side says eyebrows. I'm not totally convinced a person needs a separate section for each. This seems to be done for aesthetic purposes only. Although, it does beg the question: Does it really keep it the product more hygienic by keeping it separate?
When I used the product on my brows, I took the brow side of the mascara and combed my unruly left eyebrow. It instantly looked combed, smooth and more uniform. It felt a bit wet, and as I waited for it to dry then I did the right brow. I dipped the eyebrow side of the mascara back in, took it out and combed my right brow a few times. The brow tamer dries in approximately 4 minutes. That may seem like a long time to wait, but it was barely noticeable to me.
I curled my eyelashes and then applied the eyelash side to each eye. The clear mascara held the curl longer than when just using an eyelash curler. It also made my raven eyelashes darker, very glossy and longer. I also tried using it without curling my lashes, and it had a similar lengthening, thickening and curling effect. Plus, what is great about clear mascara is one can put it on their lower lashes, as well, without smearing or getting lots of black flakes under their eyes, like with typical mascaras. It has been so long since I have been able to do that! My eyes appear much wider and more awake with mascara on both sets of lashes.
E.L.F. Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara definitely does what it is intended for. On top of that, the company does not test on animals - see citation at bottom, and I use it with confidence.
Citation note: E.L.F. does not test on animals. This is stated on their FAQ page here. It is FAQ #1.
