SUE, SOO, SOOWEE
Like porkers to the trough, our society is gorging itself. Lawsuits, lawsuits, lawsuits, somewhere in lawsuit lotto land someone is being sued. And why not? The jurors sitting in those jury chairs, the judges sitting on the bench, have lost any sense of reality. The awards being granted are so huge as to be obscene. The reasoning seems to be it's not their money; maybe they regard it as play money? Are the judges, the juries that are participating in this giveaway, also getting a payoff? Is it time to judge our judges, follow out juries to the bank? No where, no how, are these lawsuits worth the money being awarded by gouging corporations, by gouging cities, by gouging the tax payers. The golden goose will soon run out to those golden eggs and then what? Kill the goose?
It's unbelievable that a jury, a judge, would feel that by making such a settlement for the suer that truly doesn't warrant an award of such magnificence they are sending a message to those being sued, a message that in their way of thinking is "Don't do it again or it will cost you!" What really is hitting the airwaves, the fan, is that jurors and judges are themselves reinventing their duties and are now attempting a societal backlash action. On corporations, on cities, on the public for some perceived infraction in the past.
We have become a country that's not only gone to the dogs, it's moved in with the occupants in the sty. A country whose greed, intolerance, attitude, is contributing to a gimmee, gimmee, cycle that unless it's called to a halt will have not only debased our society but caused us all to go broke.
We have people and attorneys who are making a mockery of the word justice, the Bill of Rights, democracy. The interpretation of the amendments, as being done by this group, makes one wonder what hallucinary dreams they're having. We are a democracy, we believe in the democratic way, but egad, can you believe what's going on in the name of it? Everyday there is someone out there pushing the limit, abusing the very freedom they no enjoy.
The people sitting on these juries do not seem to reflect a peer group, acknowledgeable group, a group that can look at both sides on the coin and judge, not on emotion, not on revenge, but on just the facts. It seems the juries of today are made up of a group whose main objective is to redress the wrongs they think society has inflicted on them on a personal level. Some who, for probably the first time in their lives, have
