Did I read the topic right? What's so special about the Holy Spirit? Oh, I would love to tell you. He's a dear friend of mine. He is so special because Genesis 1:1-2 says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." The Holy Spirit was with God in the beginning. I believe that as God spoke, "Let there be", the Holy Spirit created those things into being.
Genesis 1:26a says, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: I believe the Holy Spirit was a part of the us. He's special because He had a part in making us and we are made in His image. So whenever we feel down about ourselves, we can look in the mirror and see what God sees. He sees special people made in His image, His Son's image and the Holy Spirit's image.
He's special because, He is the power behind the prophets, priests and kings in the Old Testament. Without the Holy Spirit on their lives, they all would have been defeated and probably wiped out. The Holy Spirit gave them the power and boldness to obey God. When they obeyed God, the people were blessed. I think Elijah and David, would tell us that the Holy Spirit is special. For they knew that without His anointing upon them, they were weak, defeated men.
Jesus knew that the Holy Spirit was special. He was a big part of Jesus ministry on earth. He was present to help Jesus go through, all the way to his death on the cross. And it was the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, that raised Jesus from the dead. What's so special about the Holy Spirit? If only Jesus could tell us.
Jesus knew that when He left, the disciples were going to need some help. They couldn't continue the ministry without some inside help. They were weak men, who love Jesus, but they didn't have what it took, to go forth victorious in the ministry. So Jesus told them in John 14:16 that He was going to pray to the Father. and Father would give them another Comforter. And He would abide with them forever. John 14:17 says, "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."
The special Holy Spirit lives in born again, Spirit filled believers. He is special because, He comforts us, teaches us, and He brings all things to our remembrance. So if you think you are forgetful, ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your remembrance, that which you think you should know. He is our Helper. He guides us into all truth, speaks what He hears from Father and shows us things to come.
He is all those things to me and without Him, I have no idea what kind of life I would have. The Holy Spirit is very special to me because I need Him. He is always welcomed into my heart, life and home.
