Some things I do so I can sleep better is maybe different than what other people do. The temperature in the place where I sleep has to be just right. If I try and sleep outside in the summer when it is very warm and the sun is shining brightly, I will not sleep very well, if at all ,because I may get a terrific sunburn and that would definitely ward off some nice sleeping time for that time and also in the future. I won't attempt to sleep outside when the temperature is below sixty degrees because that is too cold. When I go to bed at night in my bedroom the temperature also has to be so that I don't have to keep taking the blankets on or off . I do like to have a fan or air conditioner running in the window. It drowns out other noises such as annoying barking of dogs , vehicles traveling on my street or noisy neighbors with loud voices or worse, loud music!
I usually watch television every night whether it be a sitcom, drama or action show. Watching tv relaxes me, but reading will relax me even more. When I open a book and lay in the prone position, it is not long and I am into the deepest dreamland. Sometimes I really don't see anything on televisiion that interests me so I listen to radio, especially county music that I absolutely love and not loudly. You probably noticed I don't like loud music !
A comfortable mattress is a must. If it is too soft I won't sleep very well and conversely if it is too firm I won't sleep well. I do however prefer a firmer mattress.
I like to sleep with a Himalayan salt candle burning. I really believe it does what it is advertised to do and that is to quell post nasal drip that accounts for a lot of coughing and snoring, in my case anyway, and helps people that suffer from allergies or asthma as I am one that suffers from them in different seasons of the year. I have to have the room dark at night with no artificial lights on except for the candle burning.
I always have to double check the alarm clock to make sure it has been set so I won't over sleep and be late for work. That starts off a day in a bad way! I stay very angryfor most of the day as it broke my daily routine which I'm sure most people do not like to have their routine changed.
I try to go to bed when I'm not working is usually is between (9) nine P.M. and (10) P.M. Any earlier than that I'm awake at midnight and then I can't go back to sleep easily. When I work the three to eleven shift it is after 11:30 P.M.
These are just a few tips that works for me.
