There is an artist in this universe that can capture the raw beauty and emotion that every human being feels at some point in their life. There is an artist in this universe who does not paint based on what others want, but paints based on what is and what will be. His paint is the time and life that our world so graciously gives, his canvas, our sky. At different times, in a world with no man made time zones, a beautiful thing occurs. For some, vivid, bright colors spill into the sky; for others, dark blues and blacks wash over their lives. It's funny, in a way, how something that we deem inanimate can do more for our spirits than a loved one or friend. For, the sun is a beautiful thing. It gives us life not just in the sense of breathing but in the sense of living. To live, another one of those text book terms which means to be capable of vital functions. Ah, but thats not living. Living is to be able to see, feel, smell and hear beauty. The sun allows us to live in ways that nothing else can. By using its own rays and our sweat and tears, our exhales and inhales, our dust and dirt, the sun can create something so beautiful it can make the inhabitants of the world hush. It can humble spirits, it can make them cry.
By traveling to both rural and urban areas I have found that I cannot rid myself of a beautiful sunset. It seems to be everywhere I go, and with it the reactions of every spectator. The overall consensus of a sunset, whether you be a city boy or a country girl, is always the same. People find beauty and emotion in it. It doesn't matter who you are, or what beauty means to you, the fact of the matter is, that it is there. Some people find the beauty to be the vibrant display of pinks, yellows, and oranges that washes the sky. Others find beauty in the darkness that begins to settle in towards the end. Like wise, some like the last warmth of the suns rays caressing their skin while others enjoy the light chill of the oncoming twilight.
Have you ever been in a bad mood? (Don't lie.) Have you ever found yourself feeling down, or even lonely. Go find an open field or a high roof top and have a seat. Watch the sun go down, watch it until it pulls in the night. As you sit there, do not think of what happened during the day. Do not think about what you are going to do tomorrow. Simpley observe. For once in your life sit down and lose all your cares and just observe. Give yourself a nice long look at what the world is like when we are not there to affect it. The world will rotate and revolve, the sun will appear to fall into the horizon. It's rays will start to reflect and refract off of the dust particles, gasses, and water molecules in our atmosphere; and light of different wavelengths will appear in the sky. Now forget all of that. Just observe. Look at the oranges, the yellows, the pinks, and the blues. Feel the last of the warmth on your skin. Take in nature at its purest form. How could something that does not think or have emotions, paint something so beautiful? As you sit there the answer becomes very, very clear. Who cares.
