Early morning tips for stress-reduction

You wake up in the morning, and you can't believe it is time to wake up already. Maybe you didn't get a lot of sleep the night before, or maybe you just don't like waking up in the morning. For whatever reason, people just don't like getting up early in the morning, and it doesn't seem natural to want to be up so early. Unfortunately, if we want to make a living, and keep our jobs secure, we will get up at whatever time we need too to get to work.

If you want to have a stress-free morning just plan ahead a little bit. Get up a few minutes early, and just relax in your bed. Allow yourself a few minutes to wake up, and not have to get going right way. I find that when I have to be up early in the morning, that I feel much better after I have a couple minutes to adjust to being awake so early. As long as I have my time to get over being so sleepy, I am OK.

When I first wake up, I tend to over-analyze everything that I have to do. I don't know why that is, but it seems that when we are tired, we are just stressing over everything. When I go to bed the night before, I make sure that my room is as clean as possible, and that I have clean clothes out for myself. As long as everything appears to be in order, I can do OK, and not stress out too much.

Keep in mind that you have all night to do what you want, so you don't need to stress out about the morning. Everyone has to go to work, or go to school, so everyone is in the same boat you are. In about an hour you will be in the swing of the day, and you won't be worrying about anything other than the day ahead, and you will be more focused toward that end.

When you wake up, turn on a show that will make you happy, or some good music. Make it a good thing to want to wake up early, and have something to look forward too. When I was in school, I would hate waking up early, but would look forward to watching SportsCenter, or listening to some sports talk show. Instead of worrying about going to class, I was looking forward to the latest trade deadline rumors instead.

Waking up is no fun for anyone, and we would all rather sleep for an extra hour or two. However, we need to wake up and get somewhere important. If it wasn't worthwhile it wouldn't be worth getting up for, but since we have to be to work, or to school, we need to get up. Our lives are more important than an extra hour of sleep in the morning, and we will be OK if we try.
