A year ago, I decided to buy my new laptop after searching which laptop suits my needs. Not every laptop is for everyone because as individuals we have different needs. This guide will surely help you to choose the best laptop for you.
So let's start. The first thing that you should look is the size of your new laptop. Do you want a small net-book, a medium-sized or a large laptop? You have to choose carefully and make the selection based on your needs. If you travel a lot and like to use your laptop in trips then a net-book is your choice. For those who like to use their laptop for movies, games and don't travel a lot, a medium or large laptop is what they are looking for. Large laptops are more difficult to carry so choose that one if you think that you will mainly use it in your home.
By selecting the size of your new laptop, you are selecting its screen size too. The most common option is the 15inch screen. If you like watching movies or playing games in large monitors, then a 17'' or even a 19'' will cover your needs. Before choosing your new laptop, try to test the monitor in order to check if it is what you really want.
CPU (central processing unit) is a crucial option for your new laptop. If you want just to surf the net and write documents, a dual-core CPU will be OK for you. On the contrary, if you are an extreme gamer or use "heavy" programs, the new Quad-Core CPUs are the best option for you!
RAM is the most important feature you should look at when buying a laptop. It should be at least 2GB DDR2. For more extreme conditions (extreme gaming etc) those 2GB DDR RAMS won't help you. You will need 4GB DDR2 or DDR3 RAM. You should also check the operating system of your new laptop, because older operating systems don't support more than 2GB.
Graphic card. Most people don't know which one to choose. In order to select which one fits your needs, ask yourself a question: Are you a gamer or not. If yes then you should choose a laptop with 512MB Graphic Card or more. If not a 128 or 256MB will be just fine for you.
A DVD drive is optional, but if you like watching DVD's or use the DVD drive frequently, your new laptop should come with one installed! A more expensive but better option is to get a BLUE-RAY drive. It supports DVD and BLUE-RAY disks.
It's vital for your new laptop to have more than 3 USB ports. An average laptop user uses many USB devices so it wouldn't be smart to get few usb ports.
A WiFi support would be great for your laptop because you would be free of cables. Less cables equals more freedom. Especially if you travel a lot, WiFi is really what you need in order to connect to the Internet.
I hope this guide helped you choosing your new laptop!
