All the Kings Horses

Humpty Dumpty sat on the Wall
And presided over the Street
He was the chair of all the men
Whenever the board would meet
Promising wealth of goodies
If they kept him on the seat

Investing in the Golden Goose
And pandering to its needs
relying on Jack in the beanstalk
To harvest his magical seeds
Sharing in Old McDonald's farm
Of stock, grain and horse breeds

He took a few golden eggs
The biggest and the Best
Leaving all the cracked ones
That failed the hard boiled test
Why not pluck some of its feathers
To feather his own little nest

Handfuls of Jacks magic beans
He squirreled them away
Some of McDonald's bloodstock
He paraded for Derby day
And invested big cash bets
Laying odds to win each way

Due to his expansion
Too heavy for the Wall
Sitting like a fat cat
Sensing it would fall
He yelled for the kings men
But they didn't hear his call

The wall began to shake
And slowly start to crumble
Then came crashing down
With an almighty rumble
Poor old Humpty Dumpty
Took a great big tumble

Was it the big bad wolf?
Who tried to blow it down?
While looking for little Pigs
Down in New York town
Or because Humpty's Head
Got too big for his crown

It's no use blaming others
If you know it's all your fault
For hiding all your eggs
In someone else's vault
Or closing the gate after
The horse has done a bolt

All of the Kings horses
And all of the Kings men
Little red riding hood
And even little red hen
Tried to put poor Humpty
Back together again

Even Old Mother Hubbard
Who didn't have a bone
The woman in a shoe
Bringing up her kids alone
The Butcher, the Baker
All struggling on their own

As hard as they tried
They couldn't quite save
Poor broke Humpty Dumpty
With the taxes they gave
In the land of the free and
The home of the brave
