So many of us look at ourselves in the mirror and cringe at our pudgy body. We wish we could figure out the secrets that help shed the pounds. However, there really aren't any secrets. We have pretty much heard all the big and little things that a person can do to lower that number on the scale.
What we consume plays a large role in how we look and feel.
Drink that water! Water keeps us hydrated and flushes out our system. Make it a habit to drink a glass of water before meals and throughout the day. Buy bottled water or refill bottles with water to take with you when on the go.
Make sure to eat those vegetables and fruits. We all know they are good for us, yet so many of us don't eat enough of them. If you don't eat a lot of them, you will end up replacing them with other foods that will most likely have a larger amount of calories and fat. Make it a habit to eat them with your meals and for snacks as well.
Eat healthier meals. Overall, try and make healthier choices. Instead of pizza, eat a salad. Instead of cheeseburger and fries, eat some grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. You can make healthier choices when you go out and eat as well. Sill want that pizza? Order or make a healthier version. Get thin crust and more veggies for toppings instead of meats.
Can't go without dessert? Try frozen yogurt, pudding, angel food cake or a fun size candy bar. These desserts are better for a person and will still satisfy your sweet tooth without sabotaging your weight.
Soda taste so good and so many of us crave it or have a habit of drinking it. A lot of people will say to cut it out completely and to never switch to diet pop because it is bad for you. While diet soda may have ingredients that are not the greatest, overall it is better for your weight than regular soda. If you must drink pop, switch to diet.
Have healthy, handy snacks. A lot of us will grab something at the last minute. Most of our convenient snacks are not the healthiest. Buy healthy food snacks that are individually packaged or package your own up after buying them. Fill snack zipped zip lock bags with baby carrots, grapes, celery, strawberries or other fruits and vegetables. It is also a good idea to buy the 100 calorie snacks they sell out there.
Planning what you eat, how much you eat and when you eat is also important.
Planning your meals can help you consume healthier meals. We all have very busy schedules. Fixing dinner can be tiresome. If we don't already plan out what we are going to eat, we so often choose fast and convenient options like fast food or something that lacks nutrients but is quick to fix. If meals are already planned out, then it is less stressful to worry about what to fix. Plan healthier meals and make sure to have all the ingredients beforehand.
Losing weight doesn't just mean eating healthier meals, it also means eating smaller portions. Eating something that is high in calorie and fat? You can still have it, jut don't eat so much of it. Eating something on the healthier side? Having too much of it can still make it difficult to lose weight. Try eating normal portions without going overboard and don't keep eating when you feel full.
Make sure you just ate and aren't hungry when you take that trip to the grocery store. If we are hungry when we go, everything looks so delicious. It is easier to load up with fattening foods because it looks so good. It is also a good idea to have a list of what you need to buy for your meals so you don't end up straying.
Eat soon after getting out of bed. This revs up our metabolism and kicks it into gear. If we don't eat right away, our metabolism doesn't get to work. When we finally do eat later on, our metabolism has a disadvantage and will end up burning fewer calories by the end of the day.
Eat every couple of hours. Having healthy snacks and eating them in between meals works wonders for the metabolism. Our metabolism will continually burn because we are so often fueling our bodies.
Don't eat too late! If we eat right before bed, what will this accomplish? Our bodies will just by laying in bed and we will burn fewer calories. If you are so hungry that you just can't stand it, opt for a really healthy snack before bed.
Moving that body will help kick those pounds off.
Go hit the gym! Exercising burns calories and will result in losing weight. Don't have the money to join the gym? Go for walks or work out to exercise videos.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Unless the building has a ridiculous amount of floors, the stairs will help burn calories and tone your body.
Go out shopping more! Doesn't that sound fun? The more you go out to the stores, the more exercise you get. Don't have money for a lot of shopping? Just go browse. Even running errands will help you burn those calories.
Start cleaning your house more. Yes, even doing that dirty work will benefit you. Not only will you always have a clean home, but you will have a leaner body as well.
Go play fetch or tag. Having a pet can help you lose weight. Playing with them will help you and your pet stay toned. Having children can also be an advantage. Children love to be active. They love playing tag, hide and seek, and other active game. Playing with them will burn a lot of calories and put a smile on all your faces.
There are things that can serve as your enemy when trying to diet.
Get enough sleep. Not getting enough shut eye can affect your diet. It is easier to lost weight when you are rested. Getting too much sleep can also sabotage your efforts. Make sure to get a healthy amount of hours.
Stress can do bizarre things to your body. Stress can limit your pound loss. It can also cause you to gain weight when you have been eating healthy and exercising. Try to not be a victim of stress. I know it is easier said than done, but all we can do is try.
Lastly, don't allow an episode of binging or cheating to completely ruin your diet success. A lot of people think they have completely failed and fall right back into their harmful ways. Acknowledge the fact that you cheated or strayed but realize that you can hop right back onto that diet train.
