Poetry: Valentine's Day

VALENTINE

There is a time of the year that is about hearts, flowers, candy and such
it's the time of year to show someone you care so much
It's a time for lovers and notes with a rhyme
it's time to get the nerve to ask someone to be your Valentine

You can give roses or a bouquet of flowers with a few
you can have a dinner that's made just for two
On this day you can ask me to be yours or I can ask you to be mine
as long as we're together on this day of Valentine

There's a place that lovers go where they can make love even in the rain
there's a place where lovers go called Lover's Lane
You're the one I want to be there all the time
no matter when it is, when I'm with you, you are my Valentine

I want to give you all the things that lovers do
but how can I show you that this love is true
I could tell you that I always want you to be mine
or I could take you in my arms and ask you to be my Valentine
