20 ways to successfully follow a diet

Your mission if you choose to do so, is to lose weight, set a plan in action and become healthy while enjoying yourself. You will need to enlist your friends, relatives and co-workers in this weight loss plan. This tape will self-destruct in ten seconds. Are you ready to lose weight?

Here is your course of action:

1.
Determine how long it will take you to lose your desired amount of weight. Set realistic, down to earth goals. Anything worth it in this life, takes a long time to attain, and that goes for losing weight and becoming healthy, as well.

2.
Set weekly weight loss goals. Do not weigh yourself every day; you will become depressed because weight usually doesn't fluctuate much from day to day. But in seven days time you will see better results.

3.
Go grocery shopping on a full stomach for healthy foods only such as celery, low-fat yogurt, cereal, soymilk, fresh fruits and veggies. Buy lean meats such as chicken, and fish. Do not go grocery shopping on an empty stomach, you will buy everything you see and smell that way. Go grocery shopping after you have eaten. Stick to a pre-made list. Buy healthy foods you have already planned to eat.

4.Plan your meals for everyday. Plan what you will eat for every meal every day. Plan a seven -day meal action plan. Make your meals the night before work. Pack a lunch, so you can avoid the fattening stuff at work, or near your office. Place a healthy snack in your lunch bag. Switch from coffee with sugar and milk to a flavored tea.

5.Get all of the junk food out of the house. Junk food is bad! Don't buy anymore. Throw it out. Let someone else eat it all. You can have snacks, but try tasty trial mix instead. Eat cereal as a snack. Eat an apple or a banana, or an orange instead of potato chips.

6.Drink eight glasses of water a day. Drinking plenty of water aids your digestion, and also fills your stomach. You will feel fuller and less hungry. Make your water taste better by adding a slice of lemon, or an orange to it.

7.Exercise daily. Go for walks. While exercising drink water. This will hydrate your body. It will also make your stomach feel fuller. Exercise everyday to get rid of fat, and to make yourself, fit and strong. Even if you don't work out, go for a daily walk outside, or at the mall, or at a fitness club. Increase the length of your walk every week.

8.Do not give into the temptation of eating all those office goodies. When someone has a birthday or a kind-hearted person gets a cake, or the person who buys doughnuts every Friday. Tell yourself you don't need to eat that junk. Envision what all that sugar, and fattening food will do to your waistline.

9.Tape a picture of lard or fat onto the front of your refrigerator. Do the same at work in your office or cubicle. This is what all that fattening food looks like, and what it looks like in your body.

10.Envision yourself a lean, mean fighting machine. Take a picture of yourself when you were thin, or your favorite star at her thinnest weight. Tape it to your bathroom mirror. Psyche yourself up every day by telling yourself, "I can do it!" I will reach my desired weight, and my ultimate goals. Pump yourself up every day.

11.Keep going, you can do it, enlist the aid of friends, or relatives to exercise with, Ask someone to walk with you everyday. This way you will have to exercise everyday, because someone will be making sure you do it. Plus you will have something to look forward to. You will also work off your stress.

12.Ask a friend, relative, or lover to cheer you on. For every pound you lose ask that he or she tells you what an awesome job you are doing. When they cheer you on you feel great about yourself, and you want to continue losing weight.

13.Reward yourself for all of your hard earned efforts with good healthy items. Do not buy fattening foods as a reward. Buy a new purse or a new pair of jeans that you couldn't fit into before. Buy yourself a night out dancing, or a night out at a concert.

14.Join an exercise class. Make sure it is a group that is fun and that has a great time working out such as a dance class, like belly dancing or salsa class. Strip dance the weight off, and get some sexy curves at the same time.

15.Stay away from diet pills, fad diets and colon cleansing. Stay away from the fad diets because it is more likely that you will gain the weight back. Your goal is to lose weight the good old- fashioned way by eating less, and working out. Diet pills will take some weight off, but as soon as you go off them you gain the weight back.

16. Once you reach a weight loss plateau, where you have lost so much weight and can't lose any more, you need to work a little harder. You will need to cut back on some foods, and increase the exercise.

17. Maintain a positive attitude. Remember attitude is 90 percent of everything! No matter how much tempting food is pushed at you, no matter how thin those supermodels look, tell yourself you can do it, and that you have come this far and that you can reach your ultimate weight loss goal.

18. Steer away from counting calories everyday. Just try to eat healthy, fat free foods. Stay away from super high salt containing foods also. This will hold in the water, and make it seem like you weigh more than you actually do. Eat fresh fruits, celery, raisins, cereal, and salad with low calorie dressing.

19. It will take several weeks to train your palate to enjoy eating different food. Your taste buds will be aching for the sweet stuff, but you are in control, not the other way around.

20. Moderation is key. Eat a certain amount of fruits, vegetables, grains, and fiber every day. Allow a tasty treat to pass your lips every so often so that you don't feel completely deprived.

You can do it! Delegate your friends, and relatives as a supportive cheer leading team, don't go it alone! You may even be able to talk your best friend into losing weight with you. Maintain a positive attitude. Tell yourself you are getting healthier, and that you are lowering your risk for heart disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Then you will have fewer visits to the doctor's office and he will be proud of your success, too.
