Six months ago, I was on my drive to work at 7:00 am. I live in a golf course community that has a beautiful natural setting and is home to wide array of animals. Not more than five minutes from home, out of nowhere, a deer came galloping full speed across the golf course on what seemed to be a suicide mission! Without warning, the deer made direct impact to my driver side door.
I immediately pulled off to the side of the road. Two women enjoying a morning walk, and a man that was 3 car lengths behind me witnessed the entire event. They all stopped to see if I was OK. As I stepped out of the car, I had only one thought... Was the deer ok?
The driver in the car behind me promptly confirmed that the deer got right up and disappeared into the woods. My car did not fare as well. The impact took off the side view mirror, and seriously damaged the driver door. The driver side window was completely smashed. The expense to repair the damage was over $3000!
Not more than four days later, my son was driving on the same road, precisely one mile further than my mishap. Once again, out of nowhere, a deer bolted from the woods and torpedoed his car. Again, the deer was not hurt, but the car suffered $2500 worth of damage to his car! Was this coincidental?
At the time, I was going through a very rough patch in life. These two deer events were the tip of the iceberg to all the other crazy events that were taking place in my life at the time. It felt like the world was conspiring against me!
Being a very spiritual person, I needed to understand the symbolism of two deer strikes within one week. I called Dr. Steven Farmer who has his own radio show, and is an animal spiritual guide. I was able to get through on the first try. I asked him to de-code these experiences. He told me that deer are creatures of habit, and usually follow the same path over and over. He went on to ask if I was going through any major life changes. Was I this transparent? His belief was that the deer hitting me was symbolic of my life being forced onto a new path in life. Hmmm, this sounded very interesting.
As the year has progressed, I finally surrendered and stopped resisting the changes and events that appeared to be inevitable, in spite of any effort on my part to stop them from happening! These changes included (but were not limited to) Illness, career, housing and finances. As I began to go with the flow of life, the outcomes that have transpired have not been as tragic as I once believed
