God has great compassion for us in our faults and longs to bring good out of all situations and actions no matter how heinous. I believe God works in complete Love to move all in the direction of wholeness. The pivotal point is where "free will" and God's "Loving will" intersect. We must be willing to let God be the leader. Below is a reflection I wrote while struggling with my faults and shortcomings in my life using dirt as the symbol of our faults.
>>While God seeks our hearts, too many humans seek our dirt. They love to hear the "dirt" on people and even throw dirt on people. So many of us suffer with great amounts of "dirt" in our lives that was either added to us by our own bad choices or thrown upon us by those who have handled us carelessly. Coming to Christ late in life, leads me down a path of a different kind. A greater turn in life is put before me. I do have dirt; everyone does to one extent or another. I will praise You, Lord, for the lessons of my mistakes. I will learn from them and because they are public may You use them, Lord, for others to learn as well. In the end, I have nothing but You.
Upon meditating on dirt You have shown me what You do with that "dirt." You cultivate it into a beautiful and amazing garden. Words do not begin to demonstrate the vision so filled with hope that You have shown me:
Flowers of Compassion
Plants of Strength
Herbs for healing
Salve for the wounds
Lilies of the Valley for how our Lord purifies our souls
The occasional weed for humility
Rain the healing waters of God
Wind chimes for communication
All of this beauty is grown in the dirt given to God by us. All cultivated nurtured and touched by Him, the Master Gardener.
How many may walk peacefully through this garden taking in the sweet aroma of forgiveness and mercy delivered through love? How many more will be healed when we share our dirt first with God?
There are sins that are painful and raw; how I wish they had not been. How I wish humanness would never transcend choice. And God says "Child, on that dirt which you gave to me in reconciling with me, there will be the most beautiful blossoms of all. The greater the forgiven sin, the richer the soil because it required My Love the most."
I look to those who judge. I look at their souls remembering that there is dirt there too. May it become the place where mercy and Love meet as that "dirt" is given to our Lord. May it be joined into the patchwork of gardens cultivated by God connected by bridges of shared mercy.<<
