The effect of pornography on society is easy to see for some but for most, a society conditioned in free love and sex have come to know it as the norm. Watch any teen type of movie and spend some time around the younger set of people and you will often hear it referred to as just a normal part of life.
The fact is, porn destroys and degrades. I can already hear the younger people reading this and groaning, "Here's another old person ranting and raving." But look at the facts... there was a day when women were respected and revered. If a man didn't open a car door for her it was considered unmannerly, never mind make lude or crude sexual comments. There is so much disrespect for women in society in this day and age that they have been almost reduced to "just one of the guys". Women are expected to work as hard in the workplace and simply accept the fact that their men look at porn as a way of life. This is wrong. If any woman just accepts this as part of a relationship she is as brainwashed into this disrespectful society as most are. Porn is an alternative way of cheating as much as the actual act is. The lack of physical touch does not do anything to stop the mind from indulging in the act of sexual activity with someone other than the spouse. Turning to porn also makes a mind think they are less and less satisfied with their spouse because our other half is never perfect and porn bodies always are. Another problem with porn in the relationship is thinking that your sex will be like what you see in a porn movie and that also, is unrealistic. All of this contributes to discontent in a marriage, which in turn, is harmful to society.
Teens today have been programmed to think that porn is ok and even expected. Television often has women portrayed as sexual objects and many shows, especially programs like wrestling, stay alive simply because of the women and the the roles they play there. When these images and ideas are expressed in everyday society it is no wonder that people are programmed into thinking that porn and all it's counterparts are perfectly normal and not harmful. Ask any woman who is loyal to her man if she thinks that porn is great in the relationship and most often, if the truth is told, she would say it's hurtful. Porn makes a woman feel that she is not good enough to satisfy her husband and he needs to turn to alternative methods. This can't be healthy to society, therefore making it harmful.
All of this is just another chapter in book of greed in America. We have become so programmed to get what we want, when we want it, that we have forgotten to think about weather or not it would be good for us. Worse than that, we have failed ourselves because we no longer care. Perhaps if society started to care about morals and values again, our American world be kind and considerate once again.
